How to remove super glue residue

Super glue usually comes in a side clip for maximum control. Its applicator allows precision to avoid stains. However, no matter how careful we are, spills and overflows can occur. To avoid this, here we tell you how to remove glue residue on different surfaces.

  • For metal . Use acetone, which is the main ingredient in nail polish remover. If that doesn’t work, soak the metal object for 30 minutes in a 2:1 mixture of water and white vinegar. Finally, clean the area with a brush or sandpaper.
  • For the wood . Nail polish remover is not to be underestimated, it can be used again! Other products that are also often used are oils, in this case coconut or olive. Once the glued area has come off, rub the entire area with fine sandpaper. It is important to remember that you only want to remove the glue, so you have to pay attention to the use of sandpaper.
  • For the plastic . Place a damp cloth on the affected area and fix it firmly. You can also soak the glue in vegetable oil or diluted vinegar. Leave it for a few hours for the glue to get wet. Then put a little acetone or alcohol and let this substance break down the glue. Finally, clean with a damp cloth.
  • For the tissues . Acetone nail polish remover could be used for this type of material, although it could be risky. Use just a little on a small piece of fabric. Once the adhesive bond has started to break down, apply a pre-treatment stain remover deep into the adhesive. Let it act and then wash the cloth garment at a lukewarm temperature.

Finally, there is no better advice than to be careful with the use of instant glue. Wearing work gloves and using the glue applicator correctly can save you a lot of time. An important reminder : if you used up all of your wife’s, daughter’s or sister’s nail polish remover, don’t forget to replenish it. No reason.
