The American Amber Dawn Frey became known in January 2003, when she was related to Scott Peterson, a 29-year-old man suspected of murdering his eight-month-pregnant wife. The following is the timeline of the events that led to the scandal and Amber Frey’s role in them.

1975. Amber Dawn Frey is born in Los Angeles, California.

1993. Amber graduates from Clovis High School . She then attends Fresno City University, AANAS and does additional training as a massage therapist at Golden State Business College .

First semester of 2002. Amber, 27, is a single mother who starts working in massage therapy administration, with the intention of dedicating herself fully to this business.

October 2002. Amber’s best friend, Shawn Sibley, meets a fertilizer salesman named Scott Peterson at a pest control conference. Initially, Peterson woos Sibley, but she is engaged and thinks her suitor would make a good match for her friend Amber. Therefore, Sibley puts Frey in contact with Peterson.

November 20, 2002. Frey and Peterson go on their first date. She perceives him as a calm, charming and thoughtful man. In later testimonials, Amber states that Scott was easy to talk to and that he made her feel comfortable from the get-go.

December 9, 2002. Peterson tells Frey that he was married, but had “lost” his wife. At that time the relationship between them has advanced rapidly and they even talk about marriage. However, Peterson has been married for several years to a 27-year-old woman named Laci, who is eight months pregnant with him.

December 24, 2002. Scott calls his wife’s family to inform them that he hasn’t seen her, even though they were having a Christmas dinner at home that night. The woman’s disappearance is immediately reported and the police begin the search for her.

December 30, 2002. Amber Frey calls the police and claims she is Scott’s romantic partner. She affirms that days before she had seen him on television, with Laci’s family, making statements regarding the disappearance of the pregnant woman. A meeting is arranged between Frey and the police, in which they agree that she will record her conversations with Scott from then on. Among these calls, the one on New Year’s Eve in 2002 stands out, when Peterson tells Frey that she is in Paris; in reality he is in Modesto, California, participating in a vigil for his missing wife.

January 24, 2003. Investigators continue to search for Laci. Fray continues to record calls, and in them Peterson acknowledges having said that he “lost” his wife before she disappeared and affirms that Laci knew and approved of the relationship between him and Frey. On this date, the existence of Frey and his collaboration in the investigation were only known to the police. However, the National Enquire newspaper is about to reveal Scott’s private life and, consequently, his relationship with Amber. Then, she informs the media that she met Peterson in November of the previous year, that she did not know that she was married and that she had a romantic relationship with him.

January 28, 2003. In an interview for Good morning America , Peterson acknowledges that he lied to Amber, but claims that days after his wife’s disappearance he had called his girlfriend to confess the truth.

April 13, 2003. The body of an unborn baby is found on the north shore of San Francisco Bay. The next day, a mile further south, the remains of a woman are found. Days later it is confirmed that they are the bodies of Laci Peterson and her unborn child.

April 18, 2003. Police arrest Scott Peterson. Among the seized belongings are 200 packets of sleeping pills, a dagger, ropes, a shovel and a map to get to Amber’s house, who could testify against her.

June 1, 2004. Peterson’s trial begins. Amber Frey is the main witness for the prosecution. Regarding her participation in the trial, she affirms that “since there was a missing pregnant woman, and I had been recording all this time, the right thing to do was go to the Modesto Police Department and offer my statement.”

November 12, 2004 . The jury in the case finds Scott Peterson guilty of murder. He is sentenced to death.

January 2005. Frey publishes a book titled Witness: For the Prosecution of Scott Peterson .

2006. Amber Frey marries police officer Robert Hernandez; the couple divorced in 2008.

2007. Frey opens a spa called Euphoria Day Spa , located in Fresno. The business goes bankrupt in 2015.

2015. Frey tells NBC’s Today website : “To this day I am a strong woman, a loving mother, a good friend. I am a person capable of traveling to the other side of the world to help people who are in desperate need. I feel that above all I am the one who wins with this experience.”

December 08, 2020. Peterson’s death sentence is vacated and commuted to life in prison without parole. Frey, in a statement sent to Fox News, says she is relieved that the court did not overturn the sentence, and says that the decision to appeal the change of sentence rests with the families of the victims.

At the moment. Frey is 47 years old. She is the mother of two children, Ayiana Frey and Justin Dean Markovich. She continues to work as a massage therapist, is active in her church, and is involved as a missionary in various parts of the world.
